Hundreds of Falklands veterans joined members of the Royal Family in London earlier today for a major event commemorating the 25th anniversary of the South Atlantic conflict.

The event in Horse Guards Parade was attended by the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke of York, who was a veteran of the 1982 conflict, and Baroness Thatcher, Prime Minister at the time of the conflict. At the same time in the Falklands, islanders will be joined by the Earl of Wessex and Armed Forces minister Adam Ingram for a poignant service in the depth of their winter.

The 73-day war claimed 649 Argentine lives and 255 on the British side. A further 777 British troops were wounded with 1068 on the Argentine side.

The names of every man and woman who gave their lives so that the Falkland Islanders could remain at liberty under British rule can be found on the Falkland Veterans Foundation website.
