'Snowman' Jerry Reed dead at 71

Belatedly news reaches me that 'Snowman' Jerry Reed has died aged 71. Jerry is probably best know to those outside the USA for his memorable role as Cletus Snow in Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds but in the States he was probably equally well known as a brilliant country music singer, country guitarist, session musician, songwriter as well as actor. His true southern humor and warmth of character will be greatly missed.

Somehow watching Smokey and the Bandit just won't be quite the same. Atlanta Georgia is a sad place today..

Rest in Peace Snowman...

Hey ! This is news to me and here I'm in the states ( don't watch TV ) .

Man , that ol boy could pick a banjo like no other . Been listening to him for years on end . Very funny in movies too .

Anyone remember the song -

Amos Moses ?

" Ol Amos Moses was a cajun

Lived by him self in the swamp ,

Hunted alligators for a living

Just knock 'em in the head with a stomp "
------------------
" Louisiana law got wind of Amos

In the swamp a-hunting alligator skin ,

Sheriff went in the swamp gonna get the boy

But he never come out again "

" Wellll ... I wonder where the Louisiana sheriff went to

Well , you can sure get lost in the
weee - zee - ana bayou !"
